We were pleased to welcome Massachusetts DESE Commissioner Pedro Martinez and members of the DESE leadership team to Chicopee yesterday for visits to Bellamy Middle School and Chicopee Comprehensive High School.
Throughout the day, Commissioner Martinez connected with students, educators, and school leaders, visited classrooms, and learned more about the programs and work happening across our schools. At Comp, he also stopped by Compaccinos, our student-run café, for lunch and a chance to experience student learning firsthand.
The visit also brought together state and city representatives for conversations about the accomplishments, challenges, and priorities of our schools and community, including school funding and educator recruitment and retention.
